This Journal Is Friends Only

Aug. 18th, 2004

Muaha! I now have Internet. Do you know how I knew? I came into my room and there were a couple of new icons on my desktop that were trying to get me to play on online casinos >_< I went to the website of the popup that my dad and I traced, and the site tried to give me a free iPod mini... right. I even tried calling Harvard back this morning, and I got their voicemail..."This is the voicemail of Harvard undergraduate recruitment..." But that's not the weirdest part..."We're sorry, but this mailbox is currently FULL..." So I couldn't leave a message even. BLAH. I got my workservice stuff for Dean Kaminar and it's in a lovely green folder. I need to look up information on a dozen schools per week. Not too bad. I have the forms to take band for no credit this semester so that I can miss class when I need to be working on homework or FIRM instead. I am studying for my Physics and Latin quizes tomorrow, but if I finish in time Irene, Shivani and I are going to the YMCA to play racquetball ^_^ Yay.

At School~ Salvete discipuli!

Muaha, I have been at school for exactly a week now, and have indeed befriended a few juniors (as well as getting back in touch with my senior friends). I am enjoying my classes and the residential atmosphere very much. In fact, I even took the time to practice violin for 30 minutes yesterday (and perhaps for the first time in about a year). By the way, Shamus, my friends love your poem *mischevious grin* I told you I would show people... But really, they think it's great. MAGGIE GO GET A LJ INSTEAD OF PLAYING M'Doria!!! At any rate, I have choir for the first time this school year. Only 15 more minutes or so, so we're hanging out in the library. I have all of my homework finished for tomorrow, but I am going to finish most of my reading for Thursday. Our Interact officers' meeting will be next Wednesday or Thursday, and I am not feeling nearly as stressed as I thought I would be. I am getting good feedback on my FIRM (Fundamentals in Researching Methods) paper, and Latin is WONDERFUL!!! This Thursday we are going to talk to a local art gallery about having a gallery walk as a fundraiser for The Muse, our literary magazine. Wooo... We have already watched 4 Monty Python sketches in AP Comparative Government and Politics. ^_^ At any rate, enough babbling for now. Choir is indeed quite soon. Valete!

Tomorrow (around 8:15???) I leave for school. Wonderful, marvelous, stressful school that is full of a million people I love. I can't wait to get back. Of course there will be thousands of tiny invaders that call themselves "incoming juniors," but the few I know are cool. Well, the 15 or so that I know. *ramble ramble*
As of yesterday, Alex and I have been dating for 6 months (yay) ^_^
My stomach has been hurting all day. The van is nearly all packed. Just some of my knitting stuff, my cell phone, and the people are missing from the van. How exciting. I am not looking forward to unpacking... Bleh, and cafeteria dinner. Ah well. Garth is coming around Friday and the off to Magic Springs on Saturday. *ramble ramble*
Well, wish me luck at school.

This is weird... and amusing

Leaving for Grandma's

I am leaving for my grandma's house in Indiana around noon today. I will be home on Sunday, then head out for school on Tuesday. I have gotten pretty far in my packing and have gotten some new clothing (yay for button-up shirts). Still getting ready for school and applying for colleges. I probably won't be able to update for at least a week, depending on when the internet at school is up. I don't remember if I posted, but I have a refrigerator now, so I can keep cheese, and V8 Splash, and fruit, and cheese, and more cheese... Anyway, not much more going on here. I finished yet another scarf. This one is super-long and red and black striped. It is ribbed, so it is stretchy. Hopefully school will start out well. Just for Maggie, I am going to keep my journal public until school starts. Then we're going to have a talk...

8 days...

Until school starts that is. And have I begun to pack? Well, I have one box full of notebooks, and that's about it. I have been working on my FIRM all summer, so that should be helpful when school starts, but I need to get in touch with the Interact people so that the club can be running by the time school starts. About 130 new students will be at school, and I will have to live with them for all of my senior year... How strange. I have no idea what to think of my senior year anyway. I don't particularly want to be a senior. Filling out college and scholarship applications, stressing over Science Fair, taking standardized tests for the last time; that doesn't sound particularly fun to me. Ah well. If I am organized enough, I will somehow find time to have some fun this school year. Woo, ice cream downtown ^_^ The Democratic National Convention came and went. Kerry was much more charismatic than expected, and earlier in the week, Clinton was charismatic as usual. He then promptly rushed off to Blytheville, Arkansas to sign books the day of Kerry's speech. Never a dull momen, I suppose, when you were once President of the United States and you have now written an autobiography (possibly copy-catting your wife's idea). My humor seems to be dry to day, so pay no attention to my random comments. I may write more later, but with studying for standardized tests, choosing college applications to complete (and beginning them), packing for school, readying for Interact/Rotary, practicing music (oh yeah, All-Region is always earlier than I expect... maybe I should practice the audition music a bit), knitting (yay for ribbed scaves), reading, and trying to find time to spend with friends (not to mention time to sleep and eat...), I probably will not get around to writing much more for a while. Fun stuff ^_^
The amount of time taken on all of my activities may seem extreme, but I do have a fair amount of free time this summer. I am ready for school to begin (though I am not ready for my last year of high school). Only 8 days...

*This is my last public entry, Maggie. No one who is not a registered lj member can comment on my journal, so email me.

Well, Governor's School is now over... and I miss it much more than I ever expected. Hopefully I will be able to keep the friends I have made there. I am still having difficulty getting online often because now I am home, and we have dial-up as well as only one phone line. Alas, verily it is so. I am in an odd mood. My dad and I are going to the Lyon library today and I am going to try to find some of the books that J-Self recommended to me. Only 15 or so days until school starts. Bleh. I don't want to start classes, I want to return to the residential part of school. Not that I really have a choice in which part I participate in. Hopefully Lawrence, Mark and Ryan will be able to come visit. Lunch at Ryan's (the restaurant) on Saturday was great. Hallie and I are definitely going to see each other at the Pioneer/Greyhound football game. Peace, friend! Do not slaughter me! I am feeling pretty random right now. By the way, I think my journal is going to go Friends-Only, so if you want to continue reading my journal and are not on my friends list, please email me your lj user name.

Bleh. I have a cold right now, and it causes a lot of discomfort. My roommate couldn't swallow this morning though, so she didn't go to class. I am afraid Ashlyn is getting sick too, but she did end up going to class this morning. The masquerade ball will be this weekend. I hope I feel better by then. They Dayquil and Nyquil are helping. Hopefully I will be able to get some work on my FIRM project done. Mostly in my free time I have been knitting and writing. Did I say that I learned the domestic skill of knitting? My scarf is indeed a little more than 3 feet long now ^_^ it is funny how accomplished I feel.

**I want to take some time to read for fun. Who has any book suggestions?**

Anyway, again, back to work.
