Illuminated Chaos

Well, I guess I haven't been posting a lot since the 4th of July party. AGS has been much the usual, but I am not finding it as fun as before for whatever reason. I have to choose tonight whether to go to the session on why girls are so mean to each other (psych stuff I guess) and forecasting the future of Harry Potter. Both are at 6:15. I guess today was National World Hunger day, so at the cafeteria there was a lottery for what food you got, based on international percentages. Therefore, the majority of people got rice and water. I am wondering how they justify this with the diabetic and anemic kids. I can understand the point they are trying to make though. Another poetry slam this week, so I need to prepare a poem. If anyone can help me with some type of prompt, that would be great. Well, off to reply to more emails before Dr. Baker's class. Today's required reading was a series of excerpts from 1984, so hopefully the conversation will be interesting. I have a feeling it will be pretty jaded though.

Well, we played a "culture game" today in Area II (social development/philosophy) and I was a western explorer trying to find the cure to cancer that has been discovered by a group of natives. Quite interesting. I won't say anything more about it until everyone has finished playing the game so that I don't give anything away, but I decided that I was going to play a reporter and merely ask questions and socialize rather than actively trying to find the cure. There were so many people mobbing the natives that I thought it would just be abrasive. The Truman Show was decent last night. I stayed for about 25 minutes of discussion where the main focus was privacy rights, but then went back to my room. The Mere Christianity book study is going well, I need to read book II for next Wednesday. Alex started his new job yesterday and it sounds... interesting and not worth the money. Dad, if you read this, will you send me the papers on homosexuality? I will call you guys tonight.

Tommorrow we get to do our "samplers." Mine is in poetry with Mr. Chapman, so I am excited. Nikki, do you want me to say 'hi' to him for you? I am headed to lunch now, but I may update again later today.

Well, not a lot has happened today, except I got to see Ivy and Ray!!! Yay Ivy! We are going to watch the Truman Show tonight and I do not know what else. Ivy thinks that all I post about is sad stuff, so I guess I will try to improve on that, for indeed, I am not a sad person all the time. I found out Mr. Chapman is replacing Suffren, and Mr. Chapman's cool, so I'm excited! I am keeping this short since Johnson and Ashlyn are waiting for me. These library computers stink - -

We took the Meyers-Briggs personality test today, and I am an ENFJ (extrovert, intuitive, feeling, judging). Quite exciting indeed. We have a "mixer" tonight, so that should be interesting. I am working on my science fair right now, so I will write more later (Probably Monday if not today).

Yesterday we went to the opera in West Little Rock at Wildwood Theatre or something like that. It was Rigaletto set in a circus, so it was interesting. The translated the original Italian into English, so I was disappointed with that. Also, the pit consisted of five people, one of which was a synthesizer player. Overall, I enjoyed the opera, though we came back quite late. I am having a good day so far, but apparently "smart kids" (and I do use that term loosely; I just mean AGS kids) are really into racquetball, so I haven't been able to play at all even though there are four courts available. Alas. Social Science must have the most homework of all the areas, probably the only area other than English that involves large amounts of writing. Not that I mind too much, it is probably the best area to be in, from what I have heard. We discussed the documentary "Paradise Lost" on the West Memphis three. It was quite interesting and s[urred a lot of discussion. I wonder if we are going to watch the second one. A woman who wrote a book on the murders is coming on Tuesday to discuss the controversy with us. Anyway, I should move on and do other things, like my homework. woo panda

Indeed, even here I feel like a scary, unusual person. Perhaps moreso than at school. The other ASMSA kids are still being pretty cliquey, but I am attempting to meet new people. Unfortunately, most of them don't really want to meet me. I don't know if it's like the whole thing with Garth and they really hate my charisma, or what. Whatever, time to go.

Governor's School is turning out to be pretty decent though unnervingly like ASMSA. The thing that makes it ten times better is the lack of grades. Ah well, I will post more later.
